Where does time go? It truly seems that Elizabeth was just born. John and I should have believed other parents when they said time flies and to savour every moment. How true it is! When we first discovered we were expecting, we opted to not find out the gender of our future bundle of joy, that didn't matter to us as much as a healthy baby in the end. I can say I always knew the baby was a girl, it was just a feeling I had. I think John felt the same way.
Last April 11, John & I met with our doctor and determined it was "time" to meet our little baby. We were lucky enough to have an opportunity to select the date of April 12th. I cannot even imagine having to have waited for that "moment" like many other mothers do. It was a long night on the 11th and the morning of the 12th came pretty fast before heading to the hospital at 5:30am. Mixed feelings cannot even begin to describe how John & I were feeling. Excitement, nervous, terror, delight were just a few.
We had great nurses (and was the only delivering couple in the hospital at the time which I am sure helped our care) who tended to us very well. After the medicine started working its magic, it wasn't long before we met Elizabeth Anne Gibson. She melted our hearts from the first time our eyes met. What a treasure she was at that moment and still is today!
